The gist of it all…(what this blog/year is about)

I am aiming for this blog to act as meeting point of a log of scholarly opinion and senseless digressions.

For me, country music can be understood as a traditional genre. Let’s face it, not to make an over zealous generalisation, but the mass audience isn’t exactly known to be on the cusp of technology. Conventionally, the mass country music audience consumed and accessed the music largely through the radio (currently estimated at 2,014 different stations) and television mediums. In the midst of digitisation and ‘new media’, the music industry and the way in which audiences are accessing and consuming the music are changing and in the process, this ‘old media’ is purportedly becoming increasingly less relevant.

That there is the gist of it all.
